  • How quickly will my child learn to swim?

Every child is different and learns differently. Learning depends upon many factors including their developmental stage, previous experiences around water, ability to deal with change and practice. Some children regress a little before they progress. It is important to be patient and positive.

  • What if my child cries?

Most children especially young ones cry in the begging and that is normal. Young children communicate with adults in a unfamiliar environment by crying it is a normal expression. It is important to remember your child is in a new environment with a strange person and they look to mom and dad for approval. As lessons continue the anxieties become less evident the fun begins. If your child expresses excessive fears it is important to continuing lessons and vital not to stop and continue until they conquer and overcome them. Being positive and giving them praise is the best thing you can do to help them along their learning process.

  • What age is my child ready to learn to swim?

The earlier the start a child has the more likely they are to accept the water and more ready to learn to swim sooner. The earlier they start the less fear there is.

  • What can I do to help my child learn?

Be involved! Understand why we are working on what we are and provide time for practice. Show your pleasure with your child's progress no matter how small it is. The more positive reinforcement your child has the more self confident they will be. The greatest motivator for any child is the approval of mom and dad. Talk regularly with your child about how proud of them you are and what a good job they are doing.

  • How long before a lesson can I feed my child?

We recommend not feeding your child for at least 2 hours before a lesson especially dairy products. It is no fun swimming with an upset belly.

  • What happens if my child misses a class?

Makeup AGREEMENT Because of our strict student-to-teacher ratio, missed classes will not result in prorated tuition or refunds. Should you miss your regular lesson, you may schedule 1 make-up class per month (which expires 30 days from the date of absence) based on availability within the current teaching schedule. Please understand that we do not guarantee the same teacher or time for scheduled lesson makeups. If you cannot attend one of our designated makeup sessions, please let us know promptly so we may open that class up to another member. To keep the integrity of each class, we do not schedule back-to-back classes for makeup. You do not need to contact us if you plan on missing your regularly scheduled lesson. We understand that children sometimes get sick in the middle of the day, or unexpected delays keep you from attending your lessons. In addition, you will still have the opportunity to reschedule any lesson that SFBF cancels due to tropical storm weather, pool, or staffing issues.

"Getting Set for a Splashing Swim Class: Your Essentials Checklist"

Welcome to the Small Fish Big Fish Swim School, where aquatic excitement awaits you! We're here to ensure you're fully equipped for an exceptional swim class experience. Here's a concise rundown of what to pack:

For all children under 4, we require double diapering. Bring a swim diaper meant for the pool, not a gel-filled one that is disposable one designed for the pool.  The second must be a snug, cloth, reusable one – It must have elastic around the waist and legs to contain any fecal accidents regardless if they're potty trained.

    General Essentials:

Swimsuit: Opt for a comfortable swimsuit that lets you move freely.

Goggles: Enhance your underwater adventures with clear vision. (no goggles that cover the nose allowed)

Towel: An absolute must for post-swim drying

Bathing Caps: If your hair is longer than ear-length, bathing caps keep it in check and protect its health.

    Additional Tips:

Change of Clothes: Changing into dry clothes is a breeze after your swim.

Water Bottle: Stay refreshed even during pool time.

Sunscreen: is not needed as we are indoors
